Tragedy Alert!
Venus Pulls Out of U.S. Open
As everyone knows, literature and tennis go together like peanut butter and chocolate. So when don't-call-it-a-comeback Venus Williams announced that she'd been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome and was pulling out of the Open, our Experts reacted. Big time.
"O fortune, fortune! All men call thee fickle!"
--Juliet
"Angels are bright still, though the brightest fell."
--Malcolm
"Yea, and I will weep a while longer."
--Beatrice
"Accursed fatal hand that hath contrived this woeful tragedy!"
--Lord Talbot
"I could find in my heart to disgrace my man's apparel,
and to cry like a woman."
--Rosalind
"I am great with woe, and shall deliver weeping."
--Pericles
"What woman-post is this? Hath she no husband
That will take pains to blow a horn before her?"
--Philip the Bastard
