Question for Magic Shake-Ball:
Why is my house always such a goddamn mess?
Magic Shake-Ball's Response:
Then, I confess,
Here on my knee, before high heaven and you,
That before you, and next unto high heaven,
I love your son.
--Helena, All's Well That Ends Well, 1.3.191-4
Interpretation:
OK, first I was like "what?" and then I totally got it.
This is Helena being forced to admit to the Countess that she's in love with the Countess's son, Bertram. I'm interpreting this as a not-so-subtle hint that I shouldn't blame my husband for the mess. (Shake-Ball, how did you know I was going to do that???? You are truly amazing).
Instead of getting pissed at my husband, I will force myself to fondly remember the days when I would praise him and try to show his family how much I cared for him.
Wait a minute. Did I ever do that?
