Homebaked Shakespeare

Good news for us sleep-deprived people who are too stupid to go to bed early because they like to stay up late! Some study just came out saying that "night owls" have higher I.Q.'s than "morning people." Whoo-hoo! Too bad I can't remember where I read it.

Oh, well. Here's a sonnet in memoriam to the brain I could have had:

My midlife brain is nothing like the young;

Books I read are gone—as if unread;

If brain matter be grey, why then mine’s dung;

And God knows what those lumps are on my head.

I have stood with car keys in my hand

Clicking them to ope my office door;

And since my access code my brain has banned,

My phone light blinks with messages ignored.

I love to write things down on sticky notes,

And put things in a “safe place” (filed, not tossed);

But, O! I can’t decipher what I wrote,

And “safe place” is synonymous with “lost.”

And yet, by heaven, I think my brain as rare

As any—I wonder if Jane's going to get eliminated this week on "Top Model"?

I'm hungry. Is it lunch time? Did I eat lunch? Who are you people?
