Homebaked Shakespeare

It's the beginning of the holiday season and that means toasts galore! Festive occasions a-plenty, to be sure, but here's a drink with a twist on all that joy. This is Katharina's tongue-in-cheek version of a happy champagne drink. Which is to say, it's possibly an unhappy champagne drink that disguises her bitter feelings about marriage to that nutball Petruchio.

Cheers!

Kate’s Bitter Pill

--5 oz. cheap champagne
--1 oz. Limocello
--two dashes lemon bitters
--1/4 fresh lemon wedge
--small mound of Splenda (or other fake sugar)*

Rub lemon wedge around the rim of a very fragile, breakable glass flute. Dip in Splenda to rim the glass. Pour champagne into flute. Add the Limoncello and bitters. Grin hard and consume quickly. Repeat.

*Ground-up Percocet may be substituted for fake sugar.
